The annual meeting at the Traphill Fire Department will be Friday at 7 p.m. All residents in the Traphill fire district are invited to attend this meeting but to vote you must have filled out the application before the meeting.
Garden Creek Baptist Church will have Decoration Day on Saturday. Meet at the cemetery at 11 a.m. for a short service honoring those who have gone before us. There will be dinner on the ground at the church after this service.
Derick Barker will be bringing the message Sunday at Garden Creek Baptist Church at 9 a.m. Campers in the Stone Mountain State Park are invited to come as you are to worship in this historic church.
Stone Mountain State Park staff has partnered with N.C. State University, Trout Unlimited- Stone Mountain Chapter and NC Wildlife Resource Commission to provide educational opportunities to promote fishing and stream conservation. There will be two main areas for the event — the parking lot at the end of the pavement on the main park road and the horse trailer parking lot. Join them at 7 a.m. on Saturday for a morning filled of fishing activities. Activities will be available until 11 a.m.
Come out and join a park ranger on Saturday for a stream safari in Big Sandy Creek behind Campsite #55 in the B Loop at 4 p.m. This program is geared for kids’ ages 4 years and older. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for wading in the creek. This program should last about one hour.
Everyone is invited to Vacation Bible School at Roaring Gap Baptist Church June 8-13. Registration and kickoff is Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be crafts, games, food, and lots of fun. The theme for this year is Agency D3: Discover, Decide, Defend. We will put our investigative skills to work to discover and be able to defend the truth about Jesus. There will be dinner at 6 each evening followed by VBS at 6:30. Dismissal each day is 9:15. June 13th is family night, which will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Registration for the Summer Reading Program is now under way at the Traphill Branch Library. Kids are encouraged to read to win prizes during the summer. Some great programs are planned so come out and enjoy them.
