Local hunters will hold a meeting to discuss best practices and strategy on being a community food provider.
The meeting will be held at The Elkin Center located at 1461 N. Bridge St. on Aug. 26 at 7 p.m.
Town of Elkin officials have thrown its support behind the effort.
“In partnership with Tri-C, I am excited about this potential new program which will put food in the mouths of those who need it in our community,” said Elkin Town Manager Lloyd Payne.
The sponsors are Backyard Bow Pro and North Carolina Cooperative Extension. Tri-County Christian Ministry of Jonesville are involved in the efforts.
Backyard Bow Pro is a national non-profit organization that works with farmers, property owners, communities, municipalities and conservancies across the state. The group networks and identifies verified hunters and non-hunting caring people who work together to support food relief efforts such as Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry, Hunters for the Hungry, or any local effort.
