DOBSON — Local filming is expected to begin on Friday for scenes on the movie adaptation of New York Times best-selling author Nicholas Sparks’ novel “The Longest Ride.”

A Dobson residence has been selected for major scenes in the production by 20th Century Fox.

Over the course of the last week, trucks have pulled into the film set and interior and exterior designers have been involved in the staging of the scenes.

The film stars Scott Eastwood, Britt Robertson, Alan Alda, Oona Chaplin and Jack Huston. Eastwood portrays Luke, an injured bull rider making his way up the ranks of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Touring Pro Division.

Luke falls into romance with Sophia, played by “Under the Dome’s” Britt Robertson.

Crew would not confirm the presence of certain actors, but Robertson and Eastwood are likely to make way to the Dobson location for filming.

Though Robertson may be the lead actress, a body-double was needed for water scenes. According to a Facebook posting by Marty Siu Casting, “For tomorrow (Thursday) I need a photo-double for Britt Robertson, 5’2, who is comfortable and confident in the water. Unlike stand-ins, photo-doubles must look incredibly similar to the actors… same height, same hair color, same hair length, style, skin tone, and features.”

What’s not missing is Yadkin Valley hospitality. “We’re excited to be here. The hospitality is amazing,” said a spokesperson with the production company.

The film is directed by George Tillman Jr. “The Longest Ride” will be in theaters in April, 2015. The actual release date is undecided. Multiple media outlets are penciling in the release on April 10, 2015, a week after the April 3 date originally announced.

The potential release delay comes after Universal announced its highly anticipated “Fast & Furious 7″ will now rev its engines on April 3, following the sudden death of franchise star Paul Walker. According to film experts, changing the release date is a smart move for “The Longest Ride” steering clear of the popular racing series, the last installment of which grossed $238 million in 2013.

An April 10, 2015, would allow the film to face no competition.
