Paul N. Shore Jr. and Brenda Chamber Shore celebrated their 50th anniversary Nov. 17 at Union Baptist Church CAC in Hamptonville during a celebration hosted by family and friends.
The couple was married Nov. 16, 1963, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Windy Gap.
They have three children, Kamela Hemric and family of Hamptonville, Derrick Shore and family of North Wilkesboro and Chad Shore and family of Hamptonville. The couple has eight grandchildren.
The celebration featured a Holland theme with windmills, wooden shoes, Dutch boys and girls and tulip flower arrangements on tables. The original 1963 Ford the couple dated in was on display in front of the church, and the wedding dress and suit worn by the couple during their wedding and the bride’s garments from the honeymoon were on display.
A table of photos shared memories with those attending from the couple’s 50 years together.
A three-tiered cake adorned with gold 50 years ribbon and gold butterflies and a 50th topper was on hand. Greeting at the door was granddaughter, Kandis Shore, and the couple’s children and their spouses stood in the greeting line with the couple. Other family and friends attended at the food tables.
The couple worked in the poultry business 40 years and other types of farming. Mr. Shore worked in textiles, and now both work part-time jobs.
On the mind of the couple during the celebration was their grandson, Lariat Hemric, who is serving in the Army in Afghanistan and was unable to attend.
