A mother and her son are facing charges for allegedly stealing firearms from the home of a dead person.

Heather Obyrne Dorsett, 40, and her son Branden Austen Grimm, 18, both of Yadkinville, were charged by the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 11 for two counts each of felony larceny of a firearm.

According to a statement issued by the sheriff’s office, the duo allegedly removed the firearms from a residence on Fleming Road in Yadkinville before the executor of the estate could collect the property of the deceased.

Police say Dorsett had been residing at the Fleming Road residence. Both received a $2,500 unsecured bond. Their next court date will be on March 18.
