On Thursday, Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation and the community of Elkin welcomed Hannah Davis as the new executive director.
Originally from Laurinburg, Davis attended North Carolina State University after which she entered the Administrators in Training Program for her Nursing Home Administrators license. This made it possible for her to become the assistant administrator at Scottish Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Laurinburg and the administrator at Autumn Care of Raeford which led her to to her Elkin position.
“I grew up around the long-term care environment for my grandmother who resided in a nursing home, my mother worked in the industry, and I worked in a facility during high school and volunteered during college,” explained Davis. “Visiting the facilities often, I found myself looking forward to interacting with the residents and quickly fell in love with the industry which led me to pursue my nursing home administrators’ license.”
The new position is just one of several significant changes in Davis’ life. “I recently moved to the area for the position and am looking forward to building relationships and getting involved in the community. I am also recently married and looking for my husband to transfer with Duke Energy so we can settle down in Elkin together.”
Davis has been enjoying her time in Elkin, saying the people have been “very welcoming and open. I’m still getting adjusted to the facility, but I’m excited to see what’s ahead.”
