‘Dine Out’ to kick off fund drive

The Yadkin Valley United Fund will kick off their 2018 campaign Wednesday with the start of the “Dine Out” at 19 local restaurants who will donate a percent of receipts on their selected day

David Steelman, executive director of YVUF, announced that the schedules and restaurants recently.

Participating are Bonjangles Jonesville and Southern on Main on Aug. 16; Dodge City Steakhouse and Theo’s on Aug. 17; Pirate’s Landing and Terry’s Café & Catering on Aug. 18; 268 Grill and Prime Thai on Aug. 19; Angry Troll Brewing at 222 and Wood Box BBQ on Aug. 20; Shiki of Elkin and John Boy’s BBQ & Seafood on Aug. 21; Sixty-Seven Pizza and Alex’s Grill & Ice Cream on Aug. 22; Harry’s Place, Breakfastime and Mazzini’s on Aug. 23; and Cedarbrook Grill and Speedy Chef on Aug. 24.

Schedule available at each restaurant and on YVUF website: Yadkinvalleyunitedfund.org. The 2018 campaign goal is $200,000, largest ever. The main drive will run from August 15 thru November 15, 2017.

Susan Stewart is this year’s president, other board members include Laura Oakes, Don Clark, Frankie Pardue, Barry Cleary, Ann Ashman, Nathan Lewis, Ron Jester, Holly Lamm, Leon Baskerville, Phyllis Harris, Kathy Poteate, Bill Johnson, Natalie Eidson, Anita Darnell, Karen Defreitas and John Wiles.

The YVUF has committed funds for 2018 to 25 local nonprofit agencies and three scholarships to local high schools. The 25 local nonprofit agencies are also listed on the YVUF website.

2018 will be the final year for the John Furches Print which will be a special 25th year edition and will be given to all businesses and individual donors who give $200 or more.

Contributions can be made by mail to YVUF, P.O. Box 593, Elkin NC 28621; online at Yadkinvalleyunitedfund.org, click donate online; local payroll deduction where available; and other payroll deductions outside the Yadkin Valley by designating YVUF.
