JONESVILLE — Thursday afternoon, five fire departments reported to a house fire on Raccoon Crossing Lane in Jonesville. Although no injuries were reported, the home was completely destroyed and the homeowners’ pet cat was missing.

At about 3 p.m., homeowner Andrea Hardin came home to discover her house smoking. The neighbor’s mother was on the phone with 911 when, in an effort to rescue her pet, Hardin tried to enter the home.

“There were no flames on the outside, but as soon as I opened the door, flames came bursting out,” shattering windows in an explosion of heat, according to Hardin. She then called her husband, Benjamin.

“I was at work,” he stated, describing the situation when he arrived as, “it was roaring. [The fire departments] were spraying it down.”

Although five different fire departments responded, it did not take long to get the fire under control. “It seemed to be a pretty quick knock down,” described Yadkin County Fire Marshal Ricky Leonard, who stated he was not among the first firefighters on the scene.

Arlington, Boonville, Fall Creek, West Yadkin and Yadkinville fire departments were all represented. Also present were the Yadkin EMS and CC Camp Fire and Medical as well as Yadkin County Fire and Rescue.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
