Tuesday at 7 a.m. community members will collect at the Elkin Center of Surry Community College as the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce welcomes Dr. Skip Whitman to present a 20-minute lecture on how to balance family, work and community.

“I think that when you talk about life, the everyday struggle is how to balance your family, your career and the community that you live in,” explained Whitman. “I think there has to be a balance and that balance changes through life.”

Whitman compares life to a book full of chapters. “Every chapter is different. Every chapter has a different focus,” explained Whitman. “Subsequent chapters are built on what came before. Everybody’s chapters are different.

“[The story] is a gradual process of growth and maturation,” continued Whitman. “The same challenges are there. The way you look at them changes.”

The public is welcome to join the chamber to hear about Whitman’s process of balancing the priorities in life. To RSVP for this free lecture, call the chamber at 336-526-1111.
