Spring has sprung

Spring has come to the Yadkin Valley, and what a glorious time it is! Any season is a great time to visit the wineries in our state, but springtime is extra special. Not only is the scenery lovely this time of year, but you can get a lot of “bang for your buck,” so to speak, and experience multiple wineries at once at the many wine festivals that take place during the spring.

I confess that my favorite is the Yadkin Valley Wine Festival right here in the heart of the valley in Elkin, North Carolina. I feel like it’s one of the best kept secrets of our region and there’s a selfish part of me that doesn’t want to the word to spread about this fantastic festival. But, it’d be a shame not to share the secret. The Yadkin Valley Wine Festival is not only in a terrific location, with shuttle access from most area hotels, it’s also just a great crowd. And when I say crowd, it’s not a huge crowd. The event brings in a great number of people, but there’s still always a spot at the tasting bars, with no long lines to wait in.

Last year was an especially special day for me as I celebrated my bachelorette party at the festival, surrounded by friends who were first time visitors to the festival. I think they’re hooked and plan to come back this year, only without the pink feather boas they all wore in honor of my upcoming nuptials.

There are plenty of other festivals this spring to keep wine lovers busy. We also have a new winery in the Yadkin Valley that just opened last fall. I hope you’ll be spending some time here in the Yadkin Valley this spring to enjoy all we have to offer!

With a grapeful heart,
