Welcome the holiday season at the Walker Center with “Christmas with The Celts” on Dec. 2. This presentation is described as “ancient meets modern” and includes unforgettable, heart-stirring Irish and Scottish Christmas carols. They go back as far as the 12th century and are combined with modern drum loops, synthesizer work and vocal pop sensibilities of today along with carols that everyone knows with Celtic instrumentation. “Christmas with The Celts” is a perfect blend of the old and new but with a very earthy, warm fireside feel. This performance is sponsored by Hampton Inn of Wilkesboro, Holiday Inn Express of Wilkesboro and VisitWilkesboroNC.com.
The Walker Center presents the legendary country duo The Bellamy Brothers on March 10, 2017. For 40 years, the Bellamy Brothers have been crafting honest, heartfelt songs that connect with millions of listeners around the world. Even more remarkable is the fact that they’ve remained relevant in a genre that has become increasingly enamored with style over substance, glitz over grit, and fleeting celebrity over artistic vision. Yet Howard and David Bellamy have weathered the trends admirably, enjoying enormous success throughout their career with numerous No. 1 hits on both the pop and country charts. This performance is sponsored by Carolina West Wireless.
Taylor Hicks makes a stop at the Walker Center on April 6, 2017. Hicks is one of the most beloved and popular “American Idol” winners of all time. From the start, Hicks’ material on the mega-hit show set him apart, with a unique take on Southern soul, R&B, country and blues. His fans cast 64 million votes, and nearly 37 million American viewers and more than 200 million viewers worldwide tuned in to crown Hicks the Season 5 winner of “American Idol.” Less than three weeks later, his debut single, “Do I Make You Proud,” entered at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Pop 100, and Single Sales Charts. This performance is sponsored by Wells Fargo.
The Annie Moses Band returns to the Walker Center on May 19, 2017, by popular demand, presenting “The Art of the Love Song.” The Annie Moses Band has been inspiring and entertaining audiences for over a decade, bringing its distinctive style of music across the nation and around the world.
