DOBSON — The Alpha Xi Tau Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Surry Community College invites the community to a talent show — “Surry’s Got Talent” — on Thursday at SCC in Building A, Room 121, 630 S. Main St., Dobson, starting at 7 p.m.
The general public is welcome to attend as Surry students show off a multitude of talents in competition for first, second and third place prizes. Acts will include Susanna Minter of Mount Airy performing a traditional Irish dance, Geoffrey Walker of Elkin playing an original composition on the piano, Bailey Strickland of Mount Airy doing a 1980s-themed dance routine, and Anna Hendrix of Elkin singing while playing guitar.
The event entry will be $5 per person or $12 per family or group. Light refreshments will be available for sale.
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi, is the largest honor society in higher education with 1,285 chapters on college campuses in all 50 of the United States, Canada, Germany, Peru, the Republic of Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the British Virgin Islands, the United Arab Emirates and U.S. territorial possessions. More than 2.5 million students have been inducted since its founding in 1918, with approximately 130,000 students inducted annually.
