The fourth annual Family Arts Festival at Elkin Creek Vineyard includes a family-friendly concert and a variety of art activities on Saturday.
Special guest Billy Jonas takes the stage at 12:30 p.m. Jonas, an award-winning musician from Asheville, writes funky folk tunes for the entire family. The New York Times called his music, “witty, smart and raw.”
“I write songs to touch the heart, excite the mind and involve the audience,” Jonas says. “If I can get everyone engaged — singing, moving and thinking — I’ve done my job.”
After the concert, Jonas will lead kids and adults in a song-writing session.
The festival begins with family yoga at 11:30 a.m. led by Kelly Dougherty of Yoga on Main in Elkin. Other art activities throughout the day involve creating mementos for families to take home. Participants include Jennifer Bracey of Soul Compass Center, Jen Willard and Yadkin Valley Community School.
“Making the arts accessible to kids and inspiring positive expression through the arts is a passion for us and is how this festival was born,” said Carrie Jeroslow, one of four owners of Elkin Creek Vineyard.
Hours for the Family Arts Festival are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Children younger than 2 years old receive free admission. Adult tickets include a glass of wine for those 21 and older.
