According to Jonesville TDA Secretary Laurette Leagon, the business conducted at August's meeting included a vote by the authority to appropriate $10,000 to subsidize the Yadkin County mobile visitor's center. Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bobby Todd presented his case to the authority on behalf of the Yadkinville and Yadkin County Tourism Development Authorities.
Leagon also said that the Jonesville TDA also agreed appropriated $2,500 to serve as the entertainment sponsor of the county's annual Yadkin Grape Festival, which is to be held in October.
The future of Jonesville's greenway -- and the project's coordinator -- were also subjects of discussion.
"The greenway looks promising," said Jonesville Town Manager and TDA member Scott Buffkin. According to Buffkin, a grant for the project was recently funded by the group Clean Water Management Trust Fund, and the town hopes to begin acquiring property for the greenway next month.
The Jonesville TDA also approved a two-year contract extension for All American Associates president Ron Niland. According to his contract, Niland will receive $2,000 per month from the TDA for his duties as greenway project coordinator.
In conducting its regular business, the TDA also approved $85,000 for signage promoting Jonesville's hotels and tourism industry along Interstate-77, according to Jonesville Town Commissioner and TDA member Danny Lewis.
The TDA also announced that 505 visitors registered at the Jonesville Welcome Center during the month of July.
