The hospital auxiliary of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital will be holding a bag sale on Thursday, Sept. 9, Friday, Sept. 10 and Saturday, Sept. 11. Customers to the store will be allowed to fill a brown paper bag full of any items that will fit and pay only $5 per bag.

Items available at the store include adult and children's clothing, uniforms and scrubs, shoes, toys, books and housewares.

The auxiliary thrift shop accepts donations from the community of all types of items except large furniture. The sale is two-fold in helping the auxiliary raise funds for their commitment to the HCMH capital campaign, "Sharing the Vision" and to move out the old and bring in the new.

The thrift shop is open 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday. The shop is closed on Wednesday and Sunday.

The auxiliary pledged $500,000 to the hospital's campaign and raises those funds through the thrift shop, hospital gift shop and bi-annual jewelry sale.

The auxiliary is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to providing help where needed to the patients of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.

Volunteers man the shops, provide a comforting ear and hand to patients' whose family may not be in the area, help to direct and guide patients through the hospital, and give of their time and compassion to those in need.

Any one wishing to become a volunteer with the hospital, help by working whatever hours are possible at the thrift shop, or participate in helping to organize and help with other fundraisers should call Patricia Wagoner, volunteer services coordinator for HCMH at 527-7000.

The hospital auxiliary thrift shop will close Monday, Sept. 13 through Saturday, Sept. 18, for restocking and reopen on Monday, Sept. 20. 336-835-7909.
