Walter ‘W.L.’ Holbrook

Mr. Walter “W.L.” Holbrook, of 534 Possum Trot Road, Thurmond, passed away at his residence, Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010. He was 62.

Mr. Holbrook was born in Wilkes County on Oct. 8, 1947, to the late Walt and Ethel Spicer Holbrook.

He served in the U. S. Army, and was a member of Gid Branch Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Martin Holbrook of the home; three children, Jeffery Martin of State Road, Larry David Martin and wife Jennie of Statesville, Walter Paul Holbrook and wife Jennifer of State Road; sisters, Eddie Wiles of Traphill, and Effie Dowell of Roxburgh; grandchildren, Brittany Snow, Stephanie Martin, Ashley Holbrook, Micah Martin, Hope Holbrook, and Hunter Martin; great-grandchildren, Braelyn Pardue, Victor Snow and Mischa Snow; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 p.m. Sept. 3, 2010, at Gid Branch Baptist Church by Rev. Danny Royal. Burial will follow in church cemetery.

The Holbrook family will receive friends starting at 1 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gid Branch Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Holbrook. Also, the family would like to thank Gid Branch Baptist Church for the there love and support during this difficult time.
