Mrs. Bernice Adams of Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was 68.

Mrs. Adams was born Sept. 21, 1941, to Taft and Christine McCorkle Hately.

She was a member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church and loved to bake. Mrs. Adams was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and sister.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by a husband Buck Bauguess; a sister Patsy Baker; and a brother E.J. Hatley.

She is survived by her husband Tarnie Adams of the home; son Danny Bauguess and wife Lynn of Traphill; daughter, Diane Anderson and husband Gary of Wilkesboro; two brothers Billy Hatley and wife Jean and Jerry Hatley and wife Kim, all of Florida; sister Jennifer Bowers of Plant City, Fla.; and three grandchildren Sonya Boone and husband Ryan, Stephanie Bauguess, and Kayla Anderson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at Knobbs Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Bauguess and Rev. Ronnie Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at Roaring Gap Baptist Church cemetery. The family received friends at Elkin Funeral Service.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff and medical ICU at WFUBMC- Susie, Michelle, Fatima, and Berna.
