The first half saw two Starmount goals taken away and in the end the Rams were leading 1-0 in King when they played a non-conference soccer game against the Wildcats of West Stokes.

"We played very solid through out both halves tonight," said Starmount Head Coach Dale Draughn, "We did a very good job of possessing the ball and making West chance in the first half of the game in which they only had one shot on goal in the first half."

The Rams' lone goal of the first half came off the foot of Miguel Mendez off a rebound shot of Chandler Chappell with 16:09 left in the first half.

Giving credit where credit is due, the Wildcats defense held strong only allowing the Rams' one goal.

The Rams had a 12-1 shot difference on goal in the first half.

During the second half, the Rams put the game out of reach for the Wildcats, with three goals in a span of seven minutes which gave the Rams a 4-0 lead.

Nate Benfield started it off with a goal at the 38:56 mark off the assist of Chandler Chappell. Chappell would find the back of the net at the 38:08 mark off the assist of Juan Morales.

Jose Arellano scored with 33:29 left in the second half off the assist of Ulises Martinez. "We got out of the gate strong in the second half and we played well through out," Draughn said.

The Wildcats picked up their offensive game but the Rams' defense held strong.

The Rams would add on the fifth goal of the night off the foot of JC Link with an assist from Chandler Chappell, with 12:11 left in the game.

The Wildcats finally got on the board with 19.6 seconds left in the game when a Wildcat player was taken down inside the box by a Ram defender and a penalty kick was awarded and made by West Stokes.

For the entirety of the game, the Rams outshot the Wildcats by a count of 25-10.

The win improves the Rams' over-all record to 3-0. The Rams keepers Oscar Hernadez and Mason Winfrey recorded eight saves for the Rams while their counterparts for West recorded 17 saves between the two.

The Rams return to action next week when they open up conference play when they host in county rival Forbush. The game game begins at 5:15 p.m. with the varsity to follow at 6:45 p.m.
