The Wet Lightning have struck conference gold again, winning the 2010 Blue Ridge Swim League conference meet this weekend. The meet, held in Pilot Mountain at the Armfield Civic Center hosted the Elkin Wet Lightning, Dobson Dolphins, Wilkesboro Aquatechs, Galax Riptide, Reeves Community Center Rapids, Wytheville Waves, and the Carroll County Tigersharks.

Elkin ran away with the meet again this year, zapping the competition. "The meet went well, we had great competition," coach Emily Morrison said.

"We had a lot of personal bests this weekend. Our 100 IM races were outstanding, and the relays were as exciting as they have been all season," she said.

The Wet Lightning had several swimmers finish first in multiple events, including first year swimmer, Marshall Wells, who finished first in both the 25 yard freestyle and breaststroke events, and finished second in the 25 yard backstroke.

Palmer Duncan, Sarah Cesare and Tessa Cesare had eventful weekends as well, all taking first in the 100 yard IM, and 50 yard freestyle. Duncan also won the 50 yard breaststroke, while Tessa Cesare won the 25 yard fly.

Relays also on the Wet Lightning's side, as they had 12 first place relay finishes.

After all was said and done, Elkin took home the hardware for first place again, and will return next year as they hope to continue their swimming dynasty.
