Despite an extreme weather change from recent swim meets, the Wet Lightning was able to battle through a cold rain on Saturday morning in Galax to triumph over the Galax Riptide, out-scoring the host team, 651-377.

Although the meet was called after the backstroke, Elkin proved a force to be reckoned with, despite the weather.

Several members of the Wet Lightning had standout performances, despite the weather.

Palmer Duncan took wins in the 100 Meter IM, 50 Meter Freestyle, and the 50 Meter Backstroke. Also standing out for the Wet Lightning were Sarah Cesare, who won the 100 Meter IM, the 50 Meter Freestyle, and the 50 Meter Backstroke, and Tucker Holmes, who won the 50 Meter Freestyle, and the 50 Meter Backstroke.

Some of the younger Wet Lightning team members also had standout performances, including Nick McKnight, who won the 50 Meter and 100 Meter Freestyle events, along with the 50 Meter Backstroke.

While the meet was called due to the weather, the Wet Lightning has shown they can compete in any conditions.

The team will travel to the Armfield Civic Center in Pilot Mountain this weekend for the Blue Ridge Swim League conference meet.
