Wilkes Diamonds to hold basketball tryouts

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church to hold basketball camp

Upward Flag Football and Cheerleading holding signups for fall leagues
Upward Flag Football and Cheerleading will return to Elkin this fall for boys and girls in grades 1-6. Early bird registration prices are currently in effect.The cost for football and cheerleading is $50 if the player registers by Aug. 9. The cost is $60 for those who register between Aug. 10-19. Football is open to both boys and girls.Everyone must attend either one flag football evaluation session or one cheerleader orientation. Those will be held on Monday, Aug. 16, Tuesday, Aug. 17 and Thursday, Aug. 19 from 6-8 p.m. at the North Elkin field. Practices will begin on Aug. 28. The first game will be Saturday, Sept. 11. The end-of-season awards celebration will be held Monday, Nov. 1.Elkin Valley Baptist Church is organizing this Upward program. Myers Junior Open Tennis Tournament
Elkin Recreation and Parks Department will holdthe Myers Junior Open Tennis Tournament, Aug. 6-8, 2010. All participants must be USTA members and have a current USTA number. The tournament is open to players ages 10-18. Registration fees are $31 and the registration deadline has been extended to Aug. 2, due to system maintenance on the USTA website. Miles for Mikki 5k run/walk
The 5k will be held at the Elkin Recreation Park on Sat. Aug. 21 at 8 a.m. The early registration fee is $15 and continues until Aug. 14. The late registration fee is $20 after Aug. 14. The Elkin Parks and Recreation Department is offering Saturday Morning Basketball every Saturday in July for children ages 6-12. East Wilkes to begin football practice
East Wilkes will begin the 2010 season with J.V. and Varsity practice beginning on Aug. 2 with weights at 4 p.m. followed by practice at 6 p.m. All athletes must have a current physical to practice.
