The Elkin High School Future Farmers of America Club (FFA) is holding its annual plant sale. Customers may visit the greenhouse on Vine Street near downtown Elkin from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. every weekday until April 17. Plants to be sold include vegetables such as squash, zucchini, cucumber, tomatoes, eggplants, cantaloupes, and a variety of peppers including sweet bells, habanero, and numex peppers which are a hot variety. Flower seedlings will also be sold including geraniums, impatiens, gerber daisies, phlox, ferns, verbena, zinnias and petunias. According to FFA sponsor and agriculture teacher Clarence Edwards, students have been planting and grooming seedlings for the sale over the past few weeks. Here, Elkin High School students Autumn Holsclaw, Kaitlin Faw, Andrew Smith and Tristan Grubbs work in the school’s greenhouse, preparing plants for sale.
