Surry County businesses will make their way to Elkin on April 3 for BizFest, a business expo that includes exhibitors, a panel discussion, seminar opportunity and business after-hours to celebrate and increase awareness of products and services offered or created in Surry County.
The third annual event will be held in The Liberty , 222 E. Main St.
The Liberty, a $2 million facility in downtown Elkin, was an old tobacco warehouse restored into a multi-use facility with a retail store, an eatery, office rentals and large banquet space.
“We want to continue to move this venue around the county. We formerly did it in Mount Airy, but with The Liberty now available in Elkin, we can shift the venue,” said LeeAnn Stokes of Surry County Economic Development Partnership.
Exhibitor booth specials are selling, according to Stokes. All businesses seeking an exhibit booth must be a registered member of the Surry County Economic Development Partnership, the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce, or the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce.
“The early-bird booth special is $150 and expires on March 12,” said Stokes. “The price rises to $200 after the deadline.”
The event begins at noon.
At 1 p.m.,Workforce Carolina will sponsor a panel discussion that will include leaders from various segments of Surry County’s economy. Workforce Carolina will share information from its industry and creative approaches that have allowed the company to move forward in today’s economy.
At 3 p.m., Surry Community College will offer Shop Local-Buy Local discussion on how to generate a shop local strategy to help local business.
At 5 p.m., Duke Energy and the town of Elkin will host a Business After-Hours session to wrap up with exhibitors and business leaders from around the county.
“In addition to the panel discussions and the exhibitors, one of the best components of this event are the tremendous networking opportunities. The Business After-Hours is a strong networking opportunity,” said Stokes.
Stokes said she expects between 30 and 40 exhibitors.
All attendees and exhibitors are asked to register at www.surryedp.com.
