New books ready to check at Traphill Branch Library include “The Choice” by Robert Whitlow, “A Seaside Christmas” by Sherryl Woods, “Bitter Night Sweet Dawn” by Janet Bedly, “The World Almanac & Book of Facts 2014”, “The Grand Scheme” by Kathy Herman, “Higher Hope” by Robert Whitlow, “The Widow’s Club” by Joyce Livingston, “Sisterchicks in Sombreros” by Robin Jones Gunn, and “Promise Me Texas” by Jodi Thomas.

Congratulations to Karah Kennedy, daughter of Becky and Hardin Kennedy III, who will represent Traphill Elementary School in the county spelling bee.

Lisa Terry enjoyed a visit from her daughter, Jessica and her husband, Josh, and their three kids last week. Josh is now stationed near New Bern.

Get well wishes go to Betty Shore, who broke her arm last week; Gwen Miles, who broke her shoulder; and Reba Pierce, who was in the hospital a few days.

Condolences go to the family of Gene Walsh, who passed away last week. There will be a memorial service Thursday, Jan. 23, at Traphill Baptist Church at 6 p.m.

Happy birthday wishes go to Mack Kennedy on Jan. 20; and Eddie Joe Dancy on Jan. 21; Ann Johnson and Felicia Lyon on Jan. 22; Amanda Johnson, Crystal Billings, Jackie Pruitt and Ruth Pruitt on Jan. 24; and Jacob Johnston on Jan. 25.

Traphill had a low temperature of 23 degrees on Jan. 19 and a high temperature of 59.3 degrees on Jan. 14. There was .3 inch of rain and a few snowflakes during the week of Jan 13-19.
