Congratulations to June Poteat who received a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Winston-Salem State University last month with the highest honors, summa cum laude. She has been accepted into the Master of Liberal Arts program at UNCG and is working on that now.

Congratulations to Emily Johnson Roberts on making all A’s last semester at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville while teaching two classes at the same time. She is working on getting a Ph.D. degree in English literature.

Happy birthday wishes go to Breanna Bowers on Jan. 13; Lucille Wiles on Jan. 14; Wendy Porter on Jan. 16; Danielle Dunn and Mark Wood on Jan. 17; Abigail Vance on Jan. 18; and Martha Emma Myers on Jan. 19.

Happy anniversary wishes go to Michael and Caroline Gambill Roberson, who celebrated their seventh anniversary on Jan. 8.

Traphill had a low temperature of 7.3 degrees on Jan. 7 and a high temperature of 63.1 degrees on Jan. 12. There was 2.7 inches of rain during the week of Jan. 6-12. I’m glad that cold weather didn’t last long.

Judy Dupree last saw a hummingbird on Jan. 3. I guess it either decided to move further south or it didn’t survive the cold.
