GREENVILLE, S.C. — Former Starmount star Ashton Gregory’s remarkable freshman season in the collegiate ranks caught the eye of the Southern Conference at the end of the regular season.
Gregory, a two-time Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year, garnered SoCon Freshman of the Year honors after her impressive first year with the Furman Paladins.
The Yadkinville native averaged 2.61 kills per set (2.60 in league play) and tallied a total of 256 kills. Her .339 hitting percentage was one of the highest single-season totals in program history, where she hit .500 or better in seven matches this season and hit .700 or better twice.
Gregory also led the team with 104 total blocks, including 31 solo stuffs.
Gregory was also one of two Paladins to make the SoCon All-Freshman Team, along with Annie Bierman.
