DOBSON — The Surry Central High School Alumni Association will host “Eaglemania” this Saturday.
“The event is a benefit concert to establish a music scholarship for 2014 for one or more seniors going to college that are planning to pursue a major in music,” said Ron Phillips, SCHS alumni president.
According to Phillips, the event will have 14 performing bands, all mostly SCHS alumni.
Doors open at noon and the concert begins at 1 p.m.
The event will be held inside the Surry Central High School gymnasium.
Tickets for the venue are adults $10 at the door, students $5 at the door, children younger than 6 enter free.
Patrons should expect many genres of music — gospel, bluegrass, contemporary Christian, country, southern rock, blues rock, rock ‘n roll, variety, and original.
The alumni association said that “Elvis” Nathan Garris will be in attendance. The Elvis impersonator and recording artist from Nashville, Tenn., SCHS class of 1994, will perform Elvis songs aand his newest recording, “Nashville Saturday Nights.”
Additional highlights are the first SCHS band, The Rock ‘n Roll Royals of 1964 and 65, who will perform the concert theme song, “Eaglemania.” NF52, a foursome from the class of 2013, will perform originals and cover songs.
SCHS Boosters Club will have an operating concession stand. Additional merchandise will be availalbe for sale.
