Man injured after vehicle hits his Harley

Fred Harrison, 54, of Dobson suffered injuries to his head after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Thursday at about 5 p.m.


The wreck occurred at the intersection of Bridge Street and Market Street in Elkin during the evening rush hour.


According to the Elkin Police Department, Elizabeth Henkel, 63, of Greensboro was driving a 2005 Nissan passenger car.


Per the official report, Henkel was travelling south on Bridge Street in the straight ahead lane and attempted to make a right turn onto E. Market Street.


Fred Harrison Jr, who was riding a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle, was in the straight or turn lane going south on Bridge St, according to the report.


The wreck occurred as Henkel turned in the path of Harrison, according to police.


Harrison was treated by first responders at the scene. He was then transported to Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. The extent of his injuries were not known at the scene.
