Junior Elks kick off football season with camp

ELKIN - Football is officially back.

The Junior Elks kicked off football in the area Monday night, hosting their first practice of the season at Crater Park. Over 60 players laced up their cleats and hit the field for drills to open the year.

Heading into the season, the junior pee wees are looking for their third-straight undefeated championship run. Elkin has won 21 games in row, dating back to 2011.

Down the road in Boonville, Starmount hosted its annual summer camp, beginning Monday night.
