BOONVILLE - Looking for momentum heading into the Mountain Valley Conference later this week, the Rams dropped their regular-season finale to North Wilkes Monday night.
Starmount’s bats went silent as the Vikings earned the hard-fought 6-2 victory.
The Rams only managed three hits against Aaron Billings, who fired a complete-game gem to earn the win.
After falling behind 4-0 in the second, Starmount made a charge in the home-half of the inning to cut the deficit in half at 4-2. Luke Shore smacked a RBI double to deep center before Sawyer Davis chased home on a run after reaching on a North error.
But the Rams struggled to put runners on against Billings. Starmount only managed two more base-runners in the final four innings to fall 6-2.
The Rams finish the season with an 8-8 mark in league play, likely capturing the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament later this week.
