The North Carolina Community College System in partnership with the Department of Public Instruction is celebrating North Carolina Manufacturing Awareness Week, April 8-12.
As a part of this celebration, Surry Community College is sponsoring an Advanced Manufacturing Day on Tuesday, April 9, which will begin with a Job Fair from 9:00 am to 12:00 designed to assist SCC graduates and the general public in finding employment. The job fair will be in the gymnasium on the main campus at 630 South Main Street in Dobson.
Afternoon and evening tours will be given of the Advanced Manufacturing program areas combined with live demonstrations with representatives available for questions regarding: Computer Integrated Machining, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Systems, Mechanical Drafting, and Welding. Business, Industry and the general public are invited to a reception at 5:30 pm featuring an overview of the latest Advanced Manufacturing trends presented by Economic Development and Customized Industrial Training officials.

To ensure Job Fair attendees are fully prepared to meet with potential employers, the college Career Services staff will offer a Job Fair Readiness Workshop, on Tuesday, April 2, a week prior to the Job Fair, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm in the Reeves Building Auditorium on the main campus. The event will assist job seekers in professional image, proper introduction techniques, effective resume writing, and other critical interview tips.
