Mr. Jack Harvey Nixon, age 83, of North Wilkesboro died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro with the Dr. N. Nelson Granade, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 Saturday night.
Mr. Nixon was born in Surry County, NC on June 23, 1929, to Harvey and Maudelene Norman Nixon. Mr. Nixon was a member and a deacon of the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro. He was secretary/treasurer of the John T. Wayland Sunday School Class. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He graduated from Appalachian State University. Mr. Nixon was a Field Representative for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance for 48 years. During this time, he also presented hundreds of US Flags throughout the Community. He taught at East Wilkes High School and at Wilkes Central High School for 13 years. Those who loved and knew him could attest to his faith in God.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Nixon was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Louise Foster Nixon and a brother, Billy Nixon.
Mr. Nixon is survived by two daughters, Renee’ Hill and husband, David of Wilkesboro and Monette Nixon and husband, Don Hatley of Oakboro; one son, Steve Nixon and wife, Nancy of Wilkesboro; three grandchildren, Lauren Nixon, Megan Hill, Dylan Hill.
