Sales of the Commemorative Elkin Ornament will help fund Light Up Night in Downtown Elkin.
The porcelain bisque ornament by John Furches will be sold by Downtown Elkin Inc. in front of Reeves Theater on the evening of Light Up Night, Dec. 7 for $10.
“All proceeds will go to Downtown Elkin to help put on Light Up Night and other festivities in Downtown Elkin,” said Vicki Roberts, secretary of Downtown Elkin Inc.
“The ornament symbolizes the history and the livelihood that downtown offers to the community, and by purchasing it you take home a symbol of that history and livelihood for your tree,” Roberts said.
Roberts said there is only a small quantity of ornaments and they usually sell out by the end Light Up Night.
“If we don’t sell all of them on Light Up Night, they will be available at individual Downtown Elkin merchant stores,” she said.
The sales help fund the festivities of the evening, which include horse and buggy rides and winter wonderland pictures, as well as various dance group performances.
