Approximately 25 people were in attendance at Elkin Recreation and Parks Department’s first Public Input Workshop on Thursday, and many expressed an interest in increasing the local trails.
“We had a lot of good ideas come up, and everyone in attendance had an opportunity to fill out some surveys, and we also had a series of aerial maps that pictured the different parks we have. Each person was able to go through and write on a large piece of paper their wants and likes and future thoughts on all of the areas,” said Adam McComb, director of Elkin Recreation and Parks.
McComb said that many of the people in attendance were voicing interest in the trails.
“A lot of focus was placed on the different trials and how trails connect,” he said.
There will be a follow up meeting in the Spring, with a date that is yet to be set, but the online survey will remain open until January, at which point it will be closed to collect information.
“We’re looking for more people to go online while they can and fill out the online survey because the more information we have, the better decisions we’ll be able to make for the future,” McComb said.
The survey is available online on the Town of Elkin’s website, or at, http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/elkinrecreationsurvey.
