Joshua Logan Bauguess, son of Mark and Kim Bauguess of Ronda, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts: the Eagle Scout Award.
Joshua was recognized in a ceremony on Sunday, June 10 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Elkin. Dr. Gavin Harrell delivered the Eagle charge, and Mr. Leon Reece portrayed the Voice of the Eagle.
A member of FUMC Troop 648, Elkin, Joshua is one of approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank according to Scoutmaster Mike Powell. Joshua has served as chaplain’s aide, quartermaster, assistant patrol leader and scribe for the troop. He joined Cub Scout Pack 648 in 2002 and Boy Scout Troop 648 in 2007, each sponsored by FUMC, Elkin.
Joshua, an upcoming junior at East Wilkes High School, has earned 31 merit badges and successfully oversaw the completion of new landscaping and a prayer garden at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He enjoys being a member of the East Wilkes Cardinal Pride Marching Band, camping with family and friends, and being part of the youth group at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
