At approximately 10 p.m. on Feb. 24, deputies with the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a possible shooting at 1001 Burton Drive in Hamptonville. Deputies responded to the scene to find a male subject had been assaulted and shot at during a robbery attempt.
During the course of the investigation officers learned that the situation started over money owed for unknown items, according to the release.
Shortly after the incident officers began combing the area in search of the suspect who had reportedly left the scene on foot. Within two hours detectives arrested their first suspect who had attempted to flee from them on foot. After a short foot chase the detectives took the suspect into custody.
Officers are still investigating the incident and report that there could be an additional arrest made in the case.
